~~~~~John Burroughs
I read this headline yesterday and couldn't help but shudder with revulsion. Not only for the child, especially for the child but, for the negative projection of the first lead words of that headline. U.S. soldier...
U.S. soldier ‘waterboarded his own daughter, 4, because she couldn’t recite alphabet’
Mail Online~~~~~
February 7, 2010
A U.S. soldier has been accused of ‘waterboarding’ his four-year-old daughter because she couldn’t recite the alphabet.Joshua Tabor admitted to police that he used the CIA torture technique because he was so angry.
As his daughter ’squirmed’ to get away, Tabor said he submerged her face – upwards – three or four times until the water was lapping around her forehead and jawline.
Tabor, 27, admitted to investigators that his daughter was terrified of water and he had deliberately chosen the punishment.
Here's another headline that involves a child in Hong Kong. Different circumstances and all, yet it is basically abuse. Rather, attempted murder.
Girl, 4, thrown from Hong Kong shopping mall by suicidal mother
Hong Kong - A 4-year-old girl was recovering Monday after being thrown from the seventh floor of a Hong Kong shopping mall by her mother who then jumped to her death.~~~~~
The girl's fall was broken by safety nets three floors below the interior balcony she was hurled from while her mother plunged through the nets and died on the mall's ground floor. Horrified witnesses watched as the girl clambered along the safety net past the hole her mother had fallen through before being helped to safety on a fourth-floor balcony by a shopper.
The incident took place Sunday in the Dragon shopping mall in Hong Kong's Sham Shui Po district, apparently after an argument over the girl's schooling between the woman and her husband. Witnesses saw the couple rowing outside a restaurant where they had lunch with the girl before the woman threw her daughter over the balcony and then jumped after her.
The 41-year-old mother was declared dead at the scene while the girl was shocked but otherwise unhurt. A police spokesman said the case was being treated as attempted murder-suicide. The safety nets that saved the girl's life were put in place after a 41-year-old man jumped to his death from the upper floors of the mall in 2009.
The incident is the latest in a number of murder-suicides involving children in Hong Kong in recent months.
You know, I don't care if you are a soldier, banker, candlestick maker or whatever... but when it's plain to see that a child is being abused, call it for what it is! It's CHILD ABUSE, STUPID! Don't be blaming the perp's occupation for his actions. As for the second story? Yeah, a pissed off wife and just plain crazy woman who decided to try and take her child along for her trip to hell. Thank God she wasn't successful.
Anyways...Just more evidence of the same 'ol, same 'ol media bias against the Military. Yes, I do realize that the first story I read was from Daily Mail Online which is in the UK. It gripes my derriere to know that type of bias is evidently spreading around the world. Every major news source has carried that "U.S. soldier" headline as it's top one today. Oh, if you read some of the comments on the first story, yeah... I saw a few that called a spade a spade. Everyone else wanted to blame the war and what our soldiers are forced to do and endure. Or were they blaming George W. Bush?
And for those "CIA terror techniques"? Just ask Nancy Pelosi, she's against them and doesn't know anything about 'em. Never having heard of 'google search', I'm sure.
And so it goes......
