Year Of The Census...

Relying on the government to protect your privacy is like asking a peeping tom to install your window blinds.
~~~~~John Perry Barlow
Are you ready to be counted? And probed for information as to your life, what you do, how you play, even the number of televisions you own? Among many other private matters.
Well, get prepared...
2010 is the year the U.S. Census is being conducted. I find it disconcerting that there are so many more invasive questions being asked though. Did you know that Congress must approve each and every question before it can be asked of us? I didn't. Makes me wonder why they need so much information from me. Isn't it enough that they can take a good portion of our wages and spend it without any great amount of input from us, the wage earners?
A friend of mine sent me the link to this video. There are some questions being asked of the Census Bureau that go unanswered. Hmmm... turn about is fair play, yes?
I reckon some of us will find out the consequences of non-disclosure of those private matters the Census Bureau is so interested in. The way I figure it, when I file my tax form, they have all the information they need. Name, address, number of dependents, wages earned, amount of taxes paid, and even where I work. Why not just correlate that information and eliminate the cumbersome and time consuming task of doing a census. It works for me. Certainly would save a bunch of our tax money, doncha think?
And so it goes......
