Salute To Our Flag...

We take the stars from heaven, the red from our mother country, separating it by white stripes, thus showing that we have separated from her, and the white stripes shall go down to posterity, representing our liberty.
~~~~~George Washington, attributed
Did you know today, June 14th, is Flag Day?  Yup, 'tis true.  Who better to give us a brief look at the history of the United States Flag than Robin Williams, a consummate actor who can make his point with major doses of humor.  After all, everyone knows that a " little bit of sugar makes the medicine go down."
I hope that the patriots of America will be flying the colors of our country for all  to see.  Yes, without a doubt, mine is flying from the front porch.  But then again, mine is flown every day.
The flag of the United States has not been created by rhetorical sentences in declarations of independence and in bills of rights.  It has been created by the experience of a great people, and nothing is written upon it that has not been written by their life.  It is the embodiment, not of a sentiment, but of a history.
~~~~~Woodrow Wilson

Oh... one more thing.   Happy Birthday to the United States Army!!  235 years strong.  Adm. Mike Mullen has written a few words of praise for the Men and Women who serve/served in the United States Army.  As he ends his thoughts...Hooah.   Exactly right, Sir. Hooah, indeed!!

And so it goes......

From Time Long Ago...

What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment.  And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new.  Right now.

With everything that's going on in our ever growing smaller world, I'm always amazed at the increasing number of citizens who don't support our actions against those who oppose our way of life. Yes, I am talking about the War on Terror.  All it takes is a few minutes reading the comments on articles from sites like Time, CNN, and the far left's favorite; Huffington Post.  Myself, I don't like going to those sites as I'm reminded that to counter the asininity  is like banging your head against a brick wall.  Gets you nothing but a sore head.  I do enough of that in my personal life.

I remember Momma telling us stories of what life was like when our Nation was engaged in the last World War.  All citizens across this great Nation of ours came together as one to support our Military who were on the front lines for however long it took to win the War.

The eldest brother sent the following bits of images from a time long ago that reflect that support and sacrifices made. Today, there's not so much of that being seen except by and from the families of the men and women who voluntarily took the oath to serve and protect.   Wouldn't it be wonderful though?
