A Hero's Welcome Home and A Send Off...

Remember upon the conduct of each depends the fate of all.
~~~~~Alexander the Great
I'm hopeful that everyone has noticed that we had a Marine who earned the Medal of Honor.  Cpl.Dakota Meyer was the first living Marine to have the medal placed around his neck since the Vietnam War.  There was one headline that screamed...Kentucky Marine given Medal of Honor.  Let me tell you something, this medal is never given!  It was hard earned.  It was in defense of all that they are taught in boot camp...you never ever leave a fallen brother behind.  Which is exactly what his higher ups wanted him to do.  Thank God and Dakota Meyer for disobeying those orders.
Here's the video of his Kentucky hometown welcome:
Cpl. Meyer has made all of us Kentuckians damn proud of his actions that terrible day. Oh, Look for another Medal of Honor to be awarded in the near future. Yep, there was more than one Hero that day. Not surprising news for those who keep up with the news on Our Guys.
And on another note, our local news reports on a few National Guardsmen who just left town the other day for some training at Camp Shelby, MS prior to their deployment to Afghanistan in the very near future.
(Oops, looks like you will have to click that link above to see the video as there wasn't a way to embed it on here.)   Please do.
Prayers for our National Guardsmen nay, all of our Military service members and their families at home.
Marking Ten Years- This Day 9-11
We must move from asking God to take care of the things that are breaking our hearts, to praying about the things that are breaking His heart.
~~~~~Margaret Gibb

The morning of September 11, 2001 brought utter disbelief to myself and so many others. It was a life changing event for those who were caught in the immediate results of the actions of 19 terrorist who thought they could bring us to our knees.  Yes, it brought us to our knees...knees in prayerful repose.  But then, we rose up in unity.  We are the UNITED States of America.  We will stand strong.  We will never forget.

It's been a long 10 years from that day.  Yet, it's gone by in a blink of an eye.  Today, we remember those who lost their lives on 9-11, and the lives given in the defense of our Nation so that September 11, 2001 will be the last time we awaken to such a day.

Below you will find links to friends writing much more eloquently than I.  I hope you read them.  Nay, they truly are must reads...just do it.
